My i7-3970x system has served me well for the past five years and I finally mustered the energy and time to upgrade my rig to a true workstation class computer to handle the latest 4K video edits and machine vision applications. I hit wall when trying to setup the Dual Xeon E5-2696v4 workstation that just keeps on BSODing. I tried 4 motherboards, 16 sets of RAM, two PSUs, two video cards and a couple of SSDs trying to isolate the problem without luck after nearly a month of troubleshooting. Along the way, I got frustrated and tired and many some newbie mistakes such as forgetting to plug in one of the 8PIN EPS power connector and not seating the GPU properly in the PCIE slots. (Fortunately there are no damages)

Almost gave up and decided to plea for help online and an ex-lieutenant from the US Navy nuclear forces on anandtech saved my sorry butt. On a late Friday evening, he looked every every screenshot of my bios settings and told me to change two obscure XEON specific power saving features and it magically cleared up ALL my problems.

Another reason why I have the deepest respect for active military personnel and veterans alike, not only do they go above and beyond to serve the country, but they will also go out in their ways to help a complete stranger. The spirit of service, sacrifice and dedication is in their genes.
